The project brief was to assess the feasibility of a multi-residential apartment block on the periphery of Lurgans town centre;

...to create modern and sustainable living space that seamlessly integrates with the fabric of the urban core of Lurgan. The project aims to deliver a distinctive architectural design, functional layout, and high-quality proposal that caters to the needs and desires of future residents as well as the surrounding context.

As with all feasibility projects, the bigger picture was assessed through site and context analysis. This influenced the design rationale partulcarly the scale and massing - key urban elements a planning officer will consider in the first instance. Reference to material finishes were important, again addressing how the design would integrate within the streetscape.

A methodical approach was used by engaging the planning authority in a 'Pre-Application Discussion.

Often we find that adding this additional element to the process helps articulate a design that stands the best chance of moving through the formal application process.
